Resysta Colors and Protection

Finishes

Choose classic or modern styles with our unique finish, designed explicitly for Resysta surfaces. This finish gives decking or facade profiles a perfect look and shields them from dirt and environmental damage. You can quickly achieve your desired surface finish with our selected color shades. Our water-based formula is odorless and requires minimal maintenance. It easily removes usage traces. Resysta’s material, primarily made of natural fibers, offers each board a warm color shade and beautiful grain variations, lending a natural wood-like appearance. We often describe Resysta surfaces as “consistently inconsistent,” a unique feature not found in other composite products.

Color Coat System: RBP and RCL for Resysta Profiles

Resysta material is stable and durable. Enhance these qualities with our specially formulated paint system, which increases water and solar radiation resistance. This system, combining sealer RBP and top coat RCL, is tailored for Resysta material. It’s a low-VOC, water-borne paint system, reinforcing Resysta’s ecological benefits.

RBP (Resysta Base Primer)

This transparent, low-viscosity, acrylic-based coating significantly improves water resistance, protecting against moisture and UV radiation. It also enhances the paint’s spreadability and color uniformity.

Paint System Resistance

WATER RESISTANCE

Most water-based, single-component paints tend to soak up moisture over prolonged exposure. This often leads to a white cloudiness that fades once the paint dries, potentially leaving lighter stains on the affected area.

Our RBP-1 and RCL-1 formulations absorb moisture while preventing it from penetrating deeper into the Resysta material. Once dry, any stains significantly reduce, leaving barely noticeable traces. Importantly, these formulations maintain their adhesion, even when wet. This “wet adhesion” is a standout feature, as other coatings under similar conditions tend to show more haze during exposure and more visible stains after drying.

For best results, apply RBP at 40-60 g/m2 and RCL at about 60-80 g/m2.

LIGHTFASTNESS

As previously stated, both coatings use highly light-stable acrylic resins and include a light stabilizer that blocks harmful UV rays, preserving the surface.

The choice of pigments is crucial. Our coatings, especially those with transparent iron oxides like the walnut shade, excel in UV absorption while remaining unaffected by the light, offering superb protection.

Both laboratory and natural outdoor tests reveal that the gloss level diminishes over time.

The accompanying photos show a comparison of parts with different pigments after undergoing the Arizona test. The left panel is unexposed and untested for each set, while the right panel has been exposed. The first image displays the walnut shade, followed by a photo showing the unpigmented structure.

The subsequent photo demonstrates the impact of the integrated light stabilizer. These parts underwent testing in a QUV-B 313 nm device. The left sample lacks a light stabilizer, whereas the right samples contain 1%, 2%, and 3% light stabilizer, respectively.

Observations also reveal enhanced durability in the portion primed with RBP.

Over time, despite these protective measures, the paint system will naturally degrade due to exposure. This includes a loss of shine and potential color changes. However, the paint can be reapplied using the same material to refresh weathered surfaces.

On the following pictures you can compare differently pigmented parts after the Arizona test. On the left is always the unexposed panel the sample not loaded, on the right the exposed Panel. The first picture shows the shade of walnut. On the following picture the unpigmented structure.

On the next picture you can see the effect of the built-in light stabilizer. The parts were tested in QUV-B 313 nm device. On the left is the zero sample without light stabilizer, on the right are the samples with 1%, 2% and 3% light stabilizer.

It can also be seen that half of the part that was primed with the RBP had somewhat better durability.

Despite all the measures, the paint system will weather over time depending on the load. One must reckon with the loss of sheen and the change in color, depending on the load. The paint structure can be overpainted, and the same material can be used to renew the weathered surfaces.

01

Resysta Base Primer

Resysta RBP Primer is a water-based, clear primer made from acrylate dispersion. It provides strong adhesion, seals the surface to prevent water ingress, and ensures smooth application of the transparent-colored Resysta RCL stain. It’s an ideal choice for preparing surfaces and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
